UEFA Club Competitions - Payments to clubs season 2021/22

Updated: May 3, 2023

Dear Clubs Representatives,

UEFA released earlier this month its annual Financial Report for the season 2021/22, including details of the UEFA Club Competitions (UCC) payments to clubs.

This season has been marked by the introduction of a third major European club competition: the UEFA Europa Conference League. The addition of this new club competition brings the total UEFA gross revenue to €3.61 billion, which is €459 million (15%) when compared to the previous 2018-21 cycle.

We are pleased to share with all our CAP members and clubs across Europe a comprehensive document containing all detailed information on UCC payments to clubs. This document provides a detailed breakdown of payments to all participants in the Group Stages onwards of all UEFA Club Competitions (UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League & UEFA Europa Conference League) as well as Solidarity payments for both clubs reaching the Qualifying Rounds and Non-Participating clubs.

For comparison purposes, we have also integrated the detailed figures of NPC Solidarity Payments for 2020/21, the last season of the previous 2018-21 cycle. Thanks to the efforts of the “Top 5 Leagues” who decided to cap their solidarity payments to a maximum of €5M (final figure of €8.3M including surplus) and the global increase UEFA Club Competition’s revenues, mainly due to the introduction of the UECL, the solidarity payments have substantially increased between the two cycles for all European National Associations. However, two countries (Greece and Denmark) received a smaller revenues because both countries had at least one club in UCL Group Stage the season before (2020/21) and did not in season 2021/22.

All figures shown in this document are sources directly from UEFA Financial Report 2021/22.
