Dear Clubs Representatives,
With the final phase of the UEFA club competitions qualifying rounds well in progress, we are pleased to provide you with the information regarding the allocation of commercial revenue to clubs for the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League (UCL), UEFA Europa League (UEL) and UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL). This includes details of payments to clubs participating to UEFA club competitions for the upcoming season, as well as information concerning the qualifying phases.
Before delving deeper into the explanation, it is important to clarify that the revenue distribution for the 2023/24 season has been calculated based on UEFA’s projected gross revenue of €3.5bn. The following projections are therefore subject to final confirmation by UEFA .
According to the previously mentioned estimated revenue (€3.5bn), the total amount available for distribution to participating clubs in 2023/24 is €2.732bn, allocated across competitions as follows:
· UEFA Champions League: €2.032bn
· UEFA Europa League: €465m
· UEFA Europa Conference League: €235m
A total of €97.6m will be deducted from the 2023/24 season distributions due to the impact of COVID-19 losses on the participating clubs. All figures presented below are calculated prior to COVID-19 impact education.
UEFA Champions League:
Out of the overall revenue allocated to UCL club payments, a sum of €30m will be paid out to clubs involved in the UCL play-offs. Clubs that do not progress in the UCL group stage will receive a fixed payment of €5m.
Clubs qualifying for the UCL group stage onwards: As it is already well established, the net revenue allocated to participating clubs (€2.002bn) will be divided into four different pillars. Each pillar following distinct rules for the allocation of clubs’ payments, as explained below:

UEFA Europa League:
The exact same principle is applicable to the distribution of UEL revenue (on the estimated amount of €465m), though with a different percentage split between pillars, and differences in the amounts allocated for clubs’ payments:

UEFA Europa Conference League:
The exact same principle is applicable to the distribution of UECL revenue (on the estimated amount of €235m), though with a different percentage split between pillars resulting in differences in the amounts allocated for clubs’ payments:

Qualifying phases of the UCL, UEL and UECL:
For clubs participating in the qualifying rounds of UEFA club competitions without progressing to the group stage, the following payment structure applies.
The payment pot for UCL, UEL, and UECL qualifying rounds stands at 3% of the overall gross revenue, equivalent to €105 million (before COVID-19 deductions).
Similar to the current cycle, clubs receive €100,000 per round and a fixed amount upon elimination stage. Clubs entering UCL or UEL qualifying phases that are eliminated in those competitions will conclude their run in the UECL. Amounts for UECL qualifying rounds or play-offs eliminations are as follows:
· UECL Q1: €150,000
· UECL Q2: €350,000
· UECL Q3: €550,000
· UECL play-offs: €750,000
Domestic champion clubs failing to qualify for UCL, UEL, or UECL group stages receive an additional €260,000, if applicable. No payments from the qualifying rounds are provided to UCL play-off qualifiers, as they benefit from the UCL/UEL centralised phase distribution. Similarly, teams eliminated in UCL Q3 league path and winners of the UEL play-offs are not entitled to the €100,000 fixed allocation for these rounds, as they benefit from the UEL centralised phase distribution.
We will be able to provide you with a clearer picture of coefficient payments once the playoffs for all tournaments are concluded and the composition of each tournament is confirmed.
